Dusty Baker Baseball Camp

Instruction Plus Showcase

Major League instruction and
maximum exposure to college
coaches and recruiters

The Dusty Baker International Baseball Academy is very proud to announce the 2010 Instruction Plus Showcase.  The camp will operate Monday through Wednesday with our professional coaching staff, working on fundamentals at your primary defensive position as well as pitching.  You will also participate in live hitting on the field as well station hitting to develop proper balance, timing, and bat speed.  Thursday and Friday you will then be able to showcase your skills in actual game conditions in front of college coaches, and recruiters.

We feel this is a great venue for high school and junior college players to receive Major League instruction as well as maximum exposure to college coaches and recruiters.

Why our showcase is less expensive– but more valuable– than others

Most showcases last two days without the benefit of professional instruction prior to game evaluation.  You are there to play games to show your skills.  In most cases you are responsible for food, transportation to the field as well as hotel expenses. The overall total cost to attend a showcase can be well over $1,000.00 over the two day period when you consider the additional expenses.

The total cost to attend Dusty Baker’s Instruction Plus Showcase is $795.00 for the entire week.
This one-time fee includes the following:

•    Three days of professional “skills” instruction to enhance your defensive, pitching and hitting skills.
•    Two days of showcase games in front of college coaches and recruiters.
•    All hotel expenses included.
•    All food expenses included.
•    Transportation to and from the field each day.
•    Evaluation from our staff on individual skills.
•    Nightly lectures in the hotel on subjects ranging from baseball skill development to information on college recruiting and college “lifestyle” information.
•    Awards ceremony which includes The Dusty Baker Cup for students with a minimum GPA of 3.75

Who should attend Dusty Baker’s Instruction Plus Showcase?

Everyone is invited to participate if you are between the ages of 15-19.  However, it is advisable to consider the following:
•    Will you be playing varsity baseball this year?
•    Are you physically ready to compete at a high level of competition?
•    Have you attended Dusty’s Session 2 previously?
•    Have you previously attended Dusty's Showcase?
•    Are you prepared to be critically evaluated by our staff and college coaches?

When you compare the benefits and advantages of the Dusty Baker International Baseball Academy over any other camp we feel you will agree our academy offers so much more.

Hence, INSTRUCTION PLUS SHOWCASE.

Daily Instruction Plus Showcase Activities

Instruction Plus Showcase is held at Hagen Park in Rancho Cordova.

The first three days in camp our Daily Field Activities will include group, team and individual training which will enhance each student’s ability to perform with greater skill and confidence prior to the Instruction Plus Showcase games.

We pay special attention to the six areas scouts, coaches and recruiters look for in every player.
Everyone will be evaluated in each of the following areas with a grading system of 1 through 5 (5 being the highest grade possible).  Evaluations will be provided by our professional staff during “Specialty Time”, where each player goes to his defensive position of choice.  Each player who signs up to pitch will be coached by Dave Stewart or other professional instructors during the first three days.  You will also be evaluated in games by the college coaches during the Instruction Plus Showcase games.

Here are the key areas in which all college coaches evaluate each player:

1.    Attitude – The ability to be coached and be critiqued
2.    Running -  Overall quickness at position, timed on the bases
3.    Throwing – Arm strength, proper throwing fundamentals, position mechanics
4.    Catching the Ball – Proper Mechanics, Glove Position, Ball Transfer, Body Position
5.    Hitting – Hitting with Consistency, Fundamentals,  Mechanics, Mental Approach
6.    Hitting with Power – The ability to drive the ball
7.    Grade Point Average

Daily Schedules includes lunch daily at the field with scheduled water breaks.  Picture Day is on Monday.  The Awards Ceremony is on Friday after the last game of the day.
