Bruce Carmichael
General Manager
Director of Operations
Bruce played with the Chicago Cubs organization for five years after earning a full baseball scholarship at Santa Clara University. He has coached at the college and high school levels and has been involved with baseball clinics and baseball academies over the past 25 years. The National High School Association also named Bruce 'Western States Assistant Baseball Coach of the Year' in 1998. He is considered to be an excellent instructor in all aspects of the game by his peers. Bruce will be on the field teaching hitting and fielding techniques for all three sessions. As General Manager, Bruce will be responsible for the overall goals and objectives of the school, as well as the continued effectiveness with day-to-day operations with the coaches and the students.
Bob Oliver
Bob set the all time Royal Club record with 276 total bases for a 451 slugging percentage. Ollie smashed four career grand slam home runs and was the 37th player in major league history to go 6 for 6 in a nine inning game. Students can look forward to his evening hitting lectures. Bob managed Sacramento Steelheads in 1999.
Lloyd Moseby

Lloyd made his Major League debut Bluejays vs. New York as starting DH, going 2 for 4. His first home run was off Tommy John. Set personal high with 21 game hitting streak. In 1985, Lloyd was all league player of the week. In 1986 personal high 21 homeruns and was chosen to play in the all star game. He is Bluejay’s all time leader in most categories. 1989 Lloyd signed with Detroit as a free agent. In 1995 be played for the Yomiuri Giants in Japan, 1997 and coached Toronto's triple A club Syracuse, New York. 1999 Lloyd was first base coach for the Bluejays.
Hal Steinback
Field Director, Session 1
Hal signed with the Minnesota Twins organization for a four year stint. His sound background, professional approach and the ability to reach athletes of all levels as a high school coach, caught the eye of Gene Frechette. Hal says, "I'm honored to be selected to lead a group of highly capable instructors. I will carry on the quality of professionalism that Dusty would expect from his staff."
Jim Barr
Jim Barr is considered to be one of the San Francisco Giants' greatest to wear the uniform from 1971-83. He ranked 10th on the Giants all-time top 10 in innings pitched (1707). Among San Francisco's career top five he ranked third in shutouts (20), tounh in innings (1707) and complete games (59), and fifth in victories (85). Jim was San Francisco's second selection in the June. 1970, free agent draft, secondary phase. He was previously drafted by the Angels, Phillies, Yankees, Pirates and Twins. 1972 - Set M.L. record by retiring 41 consecutive batters over a two-game stretch. 1974 - Jim had best control of any N.L. pitcher, walking only 1.76 men per game - 1977 - Career high 11 strikeouts vs. San Diego (April 14). 1995-1998 - Jim was the most winning Sacramento pitcher in National Tournament for the Men's Senior Division (over 40) in Phoenix.
Dave Stewart

Oakland Athletics Agent Dave was originally signed as a catcher in the Dodgers organization, but it was soon very apparent that the strong right hander was destined for stardom on the mound. He pitched for the Rangers, Phillies, Dodgers and the A's. During the 1986 season with the A's he added a forkball along with his fastball and slider. In 1987 Dave led the A's in wins, strikeouts, innings pitched, complete games and starts. On September 22, 1989 Dave notched his 100th career victory and made him the only pitcher in the 1980's with three consecutive 20-win seasons. During Dave's career he had 1,561 innings pitched, with a win-loss record ofl01-74. His overall ERA was 3.68. He won two games in both the LCS and the World Series in 1989, the only pitcher to do so, and was the MVP of the World Series.
Shawon Dunston
2 Time All-Star
Shawon is a very important addition to the Dusty Baker Academy. His straightforward approach to learning the fundamentals of baseball, great work ethic and outstanding personality show the students what it takes to "get to the next level." Shawon played in the National League for 18 years. He was the 1982 #1 draft pick in the nation for the Chicago Cubs organization. Shawon was also a two time All-Star and was a member of the 2002 National League Champion San Francisco Giants.
Clint Brill

Instruction Plus Showcase
Clint was second round catcher draft pick by the Atlanta Braves in 1980. He played professional in the Braves organization from 1980 - 85. He obtained his BS degree in P.E. and continued at San Diego College as assistant coach for varsity baseball from 1987-92. Clint was named as Sacramento Baseball Coach of the Year 1989. Clint operates the MVP Baseball Coaches Training Clinic.
Guy Anderson

Session 2
Guy is the winningest coach in regional history, for any sport. That victory total is the third highest in national high school baseball history and, in July, he will be inducted into the National High School Hall of Fame, the top honor for a prep coach. He was recently featured in an article in the Sacramento Bee.

Guy says, “I take great pride in being associated with Dusty & Gene. The attention to detail will make the ordinary player extraordinary. We will combine fun, skill development and hard work to develop your baseball ability. The chance to meet kids from all over the US is an experience to be treasured.”
Anderson is among the top five high school coaches in the nation with most wins in the past three decades. He has been the coach of 20 Major League ball players.
Rich Murray
HItting Instructor
Rich was Number 6 Giant draft in 1975 out of Locke High School in Southern California. With nine years in the Giant organization, two of those years were with parent club after hitting 330 with Phoenix. Rich replaced McCovey, but suffered a broken hand in the middle of the second season. Split season with Royals and Indians and in '95 coached Indians affiliate in Bakersfield. Rich's hitting techniques, low keyed personality and rapport with young people make him a perfect fit for Dusty Baker International Baseball Academy.
