Dusty Baker Baseball Camp

Session I

SESSION I – (Day Camp only)
Ages 8 to 11 1/2 (designed for Youth League players who will be playing at least one more year at the Little League level or Competition Travel Teams on smaller fields)
Wednesday, July 24 – Friday, July 26, 2013

Session I is designed for younger players who need to develop physical skills as well as confidence in their ability to compete at a higher level.  All  players who compete at any level in Youth Leagues or Travel Ball teams will certainly improve their skills-- and receive a written evaluation from their assigned coach-- in the following areas:  
 
1. Attitude – The ability to be coached and be critiqued. 
2. Speed – Overall quickness at defensive positions as well as speed on the bases.
3. Throwing – Arm strength, accuracy, proper fundamentals, field position mechanics.
4. Catching the ball – Proper mechanics, glove position, ball transfer, body position.
5. Hitting – Hitting with consistency, proper mechanics, balance, mental approach.
6. Hitting with Power – The ability to drive the ball, pitch selection.

•  $195 for the three day camp (Wednesday July 24 through Friday July 26)
   -- Price includes professional coaching, shirt / hat, lunch each day, photograph.

•  Location: Capital Christian Center, 9470 Micron Ave., Sacramento, CA (map and directions)
• All students must wear proper baseball equipment:
  - Dusty Baker shirt and hat, personal baseball pants, rubber cleats, baseball socks, athletic cup
  - Students must provide their own gloves, bats and catching equipment if you are a catcher
 
Hal Steinback – Field Director
Hal signed with the Minnesota Twins organization for a four year stint. His sound background, professional approach and  ability to reach athletes of all levels as a high school coach is a great asset.

Wednesday, July 25, Skill Development 8:00 to 2:30
Students are assigned to teams
Staff Introduction
Team Photographs with high profile player
Calisthenics
Fundamentals of Throwing and Catching the ball properly (evaluation by coach)
Pitching fundamentals demonstrated with work in the bullpen (evaluation by pitching professional)
Specialty Time, students go to their position of choice to be coached on skill levels
Running bases properly, timed in the 40 yd dash
Lunch served at 11:30
Games played under coach direction and by age groups.
Day ends at 2:30, parents or guardians pick up students.
 
Thursday, July 26, Skill Development 8:00 to 2:30
Review purpose of the Day by Hal Steinback
Calisthenics
Players evaluated on Throwing and Catching
Defensive Specialties (evaluation)
Teams rotate through hitting stations
Lunch served at 11:30
Continue hitting stations
Games played under coach direction by age groups
Day ends at 2:30, parents or guardians pick up students
