SESSION II
Ages 12 1/2 to 14 1/2 (designed for players preparing to compete at the High School level, including all players competing on the large field via Junior Programs or Travel Team baseball
Sunday, July 21 – Friday, July 26, 2013

 All Junior League and Travel Ball students who compete at this level will certainly improve their skills, and receive a written evaluation, in the following areas: 
 
1. Attitude – The ability to be coached and be critiqued. 
2. Speed – Overall quickness at defensive positions as well as speed on the bases.
3. Throwing – Arm strength, accuracy, proper fundamentals, field position mechanics.
4. Catching the ball – Proper mechanics, glove position, ball transfer, body position.
5. Hitting – Hitting with consistency, proper mechanics, balance, mental approach.
6. Hitting with Power – The ability to drive the ball, pitch selection.
 
• $220 deposit required to insure registration
• Day Camp: $495 (Monday, July 21 through Friday, July 26)
• Overnight students: $695 (Sunday, July 21 through Friday, July 26). Fee includes transportation to and from fields, breakfast/lunch/dinner and nightly baseball meetings.
 
• Price includes professional coaching, shirt / hat, lunch each day, photograph.
  -- All students must wear proper baseball equipment, including: Dusty Baker shirt and hat, personal baseball pants, rubber cleats, baseball socks, athletic cup
  -- Students must provide their own gloves, bats (and catching equipment if you are a catcher).
• Session II will  be held at Hagen Park, Rancho Cordova, CA (map and directions)
 
Guy Anderson – Field Director
Guy Anderson, the winningest coach in regional history for any sport, was one of only 11 coaches to be inducted into the National High School Coaches Hall of Fame. He is among the top five high school coaches in the nation with most wins in the past three decades, and has been the coach of 20 Major League ball players.
 
 
Session II Agenda:   
Group, team and individual training will enhance each student’s skill and confidence.  We pay special attention to the six areas that scouts and coaches look for in every player.  Each student who signs up to pitch is taught the fundamentals during the week in the bullpen area.  They will also be evaluated in the bullpen.
 
Daily Schedules include lunch every day at the field, and plenty of water breaks.  Picture Day is usually on Monday, and the Awards Ceremony is every Friday starting at 12:00.
 
 
Monday:
Staff Introduction
Pictures with Dusty or another high profile ballplayer
Calisthenics
Fundamentals of Throwing and Catching the Ball properly
Pitching Fundamentals Demonstrated
Teams throw and play catch, directed by coach
Specialty Time – Students go to primary defensive position
Teams go through a pre-game warm up
Coach controlled game
 
Tuesday:
Calisthenics
Continue to work on Throwing and Playing catch properly
Students evaluated on Throwing Fundamentals
Defensive Specialties
Teams go to all hitting stations:
Live hitting
Various hitting stations to develop proper swing 
Timing, Balance, Bat speed
Sliding, Running for Time
Pitchers are called into the bullpen to be evaluated (two at a time)
 
Wednesday:
Calisthenics
Team Throwing and Catching
Defensive Specialties
Games during the day (Students evaluated in the 6 criteria during games)
Pitchers are called into the bullpen to be evaluated (two at a time)
 
Thursday:
Calisthenics
Students are evaluated on their primary defensive position:
Position Mechanics
Agility, Speed, Aggressiveness
Arm Strength
Range
40 Yard Dash (Fastest Person in Camp)
Games (Students are evaluated in the 6 criteria during games)
